Vampire Empire

It has been too long since I have had anything new to share…  I am pleased to report that that is no longer the case.  This piece is intended to be a song, though the lyrics are powerful enough in their own right.  But before anyone has a chance to ask, this has absolutely nothing to do with the Twilight series or my personal feelings about it.  Enjoy the Vampire Empire. 

One More Nail.

I don’t really know that I have much to say about this one.  However, I do need to mention that this is intended to be a song contrasting four different characters, so please forgive the length. 

Idle Idolation

Smash my dreams to the ground
And we’ll make a mosaic.
Harmony and Chaos-
alive in this wreck.
See the twins of jealousy
Asleep in their beds,
But see the golden idol-
How she wears my face.

Break this idol down
for I’ve built it up stronger.
Is my reason for living
Just to stay a bit longer?
The cold shoulder I feel
Freezes my eyes shut;
And the idol, she laughs
as she falls to the floor.

Say goodnight to this,
Oh, my image!
I’ve walked a lonely mile,
just to give an adage.
Exit the perfection,
and enter cold reality.
For though I am dark,
I may yet be lovely.

Lead-heart Ironhand

See my hands of iron
and heart of lead.
See these chains about
As I dance with the dead.
In my iron kingdom
I can’t be touched-
No feelings, whimsome,
My heart, complex.

These ribs of steel
(Refuse to bend).
I can’t be opened
(Sealed off in the end).

Sick and betrayed
(by my heart of lead)
Lost and betrayed
(Living for another day)
Tired and betrayed
(by my heart of lead)
Fully betrayed
(I’m living for another day).

One is alone
But two is in love.
Three is a war
Fought by the doves.
Four is a crowd
Yet five is a mob.
Six is a man
Under an ancient sun.

Fight this old war
and look to the clouds,
Scan the stars-
expect to be wowed.
We do not love
Such a humble truth.
Simplicity,
is death to our pride.
(or that is how it seems)

Such collision
Bringing destruction.
Life impossible
From such violence.

Big. Word. Burn.

Like a chord that’s one note short,
So am I without you.
Like a child with no innocence
Is a day without your voice.
A broken bone with jagged edge,
Is the knife in my soul.

Big word burn.
Inferno that won’t die out.
I’m not so alone.
This is no silent shout.

Cheap guitar with missing string,
So the song I sing.
Broken heart and deep-felt sting,
I find my way to you.
I climb up a steep mountain,
And find you at the top.

Such slow, long burn.
Conflagration in my heart.
Yet I’m so scared.
That you won’t hear my prayer.

I run and I chase and I scream and I fall
I’m looking for meaning in the midst of it all.
And come back
Save my soul.
And come back,
End this hell.
And come back—
I scream your name till you come back!

Big word burn.
Save this old world.
We’re not all alone
We scream till you come back.

Light Me Up

No hollow night can steal
Nor darkened room hide
This bright burning light
That I carry inside.

A broken world won’t starve
an undying thirst.
They can’t touch me now,
Though doing their worst.

Cut me loose
Set me Free
Light me up
Or let me be.

I can’t stop this world,
But I can make it better.
I can’t stop this crime
But I can show it clearer.

A truth that’s so near
It’s dear to my heart.
Yet evil still stands
And I play my part.

Come Christ or Hellhound
I swear I am ready.
Fighting for the truth,
with burdens heavy.

Cut me loose
Set me free
Light me up
Or let me be.

I can’t call the tune,
But I can make it pretty.
I can’t change the tide,
but I can sing a ditty…
