Big. Word. Burn.

30 01 2009

Like a chord that’s one note short,
So am I without you.
Like a child with no innocence
Is a day without your voice.
A broken bone with jagged edge,
Is the knife in my soul.

Big word burn.
Inferno that won’t die out.
I’m not so alone.
This is no silent shout.

Cheap guitar with missing string,
So the song I sing.
Broken heart and deep-felt sting,
I find my way to you.
I climb up a steep mountain,
And find you at the top.

Such slow, long burn.
Conflagration in my heart.
Yet I’m so scared.
That you won’t hear my prayer.

I run and I chase and I scream and I fall
I’m looking for meaning in the midst of it all.
And come back
Save my soul.
And come back,
End this hell.
And come back—
I scream your name till you come back!

Big word burn.
Save this old world.
We’re not all alone
We scream till you come back.

Light Me Up

26 01 2009

No hollow night can steal
Nor darkened room hide
This bright burning light
That I carry inside.

A broken world won’t starve
an undying thirst.
They can’t touch me now,
Though doing their worst.

Cut me loose
Set me Free
Light me up
Or let me be.

I can’t stop this world,
But I can make it better.
I can’t stop this crime
But I can show it clearer.

A truth that’s so near
It’s dear to my heart.
Yet evil still stands
And I play my part.

Come Christ or Hellhound
I swear I am ready.
Fighting for the truth,
with burdens heavy.

Cut me loose
Set me free
Light me up
Or let me be.

I can’t call the tune,
But I can make it pretty.
I can’t change the tide,
but I can sing a ditty…

Hate & Reconciliation

25 01 2009

“Welcome to the ball,” the man said to me.  I was welcomed in and shown a table with a single chair.  This was no ordinary dance, but was the kind of thing you see only in films.  Being the observant type, I sat back to enjoy the show.  Read the rest of this entry »

Dark Sanctuary.

19 01 2009

I traverse a marble floor, cold and dusty.  My bare feet feeling every step.  A sharp pain and small crack divert my attention.  As the blood trickles from my sole, I realize that it is a broken dream I have stepped on.  Once a thing of beauty, now reduced to worthless shards.  So the ideal has turned to a hazard.

Carnival of Souls

17 01 2009

A dark star falling to earth.
Quiet shuffle in a dark hall.
A single ripple on the lake.
Earth- as it begins to shake.

So night reveals this dark speech.
We cry for some hidden meaning,
And beg the sky for understanding.
Yet our light is still fading.

Send in the clowns, my sir,
To cheer hearts of the weary.
Though they smile and they cheer,
Many are already rotting in Hell.

Tight smile on a bony face,
dark eyes, pale skin, suffering disgrace.
Lipstick applied to one thoroughly died-
All the while screaming for blood.

The dead can’t stand the living–
The sight of one brings rage.
“Make him like us!” They cry,
Seeking justification from another’s deep humiliation.

A corpse dressed as a ringmaster,
He approaches me with a mask.
“Your face is too colored, friend…
Put this on and join in!”

A lowly Usher on perdition’s train,
Trying to give me front row.
The ticket is one way only,
The only cost is my soul.

I awoke suddenly from my dream…
Cold sweat as my only friend.
Mystery may drive a man mad,
At end, ’tis all we have.

The End

13 01 2009

Dark streets on a peaceful night,
Bright stars gleam in the distance.
So then all false calm is shattered
By a far off glittering of light.

Bedraggled drunkard pulled from sleep,
“Peace and safety!” he cries out thus.
His color is drained to see One
Who appears with a rage this deep.

Sword drawn and seeking wicked blood,
Righteousness will be justified.
The sinful will be swept away,
Just as if it were Noah’s flood.

A destroyer roams in the streets,
Or is it the one Son of God?
Shattered vision of human glory–
A slaughter we cannot repeat.

Then the saints arise in glory,
To meet the approaching God-King.
He rides a horse most regal,
Amidst battle so gory.

No “happily ever after”
For the devilish oppressor.
His smoke will arise forever,
Just due for his iron scepter.

This veil will surely be torn back
And all will then be revealed.
A new Kingdom will be given,
If we but endure the attack.

From a Fortress…

10 01 2009

A split seam
in a tattered robe.
A sad quattrain
in a morbid tone.
A deep breath
And a silent scream.
Tearful remorse–
what does it mean?

Hear ye a cry
From the oppressed-
Be it murder
Or innocence undressed.
Saving a soul
From bondage and chains,
How can I then
From speech so refrain?

A hollow gong
From a far temple,
An empty word
from monks so simple.
Doctrine must fall
For reality…
We need Jesus
Inside our cities.

In our castles
We don’t feel their pain.
Leaving them to
Their fear and their chain.
I feel their pain
Like fire in my bones.
Crying for one
Whose life will atone.

“Is justice gone
To a fairer place?”
“where can we go
To find an embrace?”
Who will then stand
and provide this kiss,
A small comfort,
and a bit of bliss?

I ask you this,
Has justice no friend?
Are the most weak
All doomed in the end?
Evolution…
It is tragedy.
For the strongest
Will write history.

The Path Behind.

6 01 2009

Behind every rich man
Is a pile of corpses
Behind ever student
Is a valley of books
Behind every King
is an army of soldiers
Behind every politician,
A room full of crooks.

Up on my shoulder
is a cross that I bear
Up on my face
is the frown that I wear
On the path behind
is the thing that I fear
In my heart do I find
A God who is near

Apocolypsis Ecliptica

4 01 2009

We sing sad songs
In a minor key.
Look for redemption
Making statement
of how we “be”.

We love cruelty
Without repentance.
One day we’ll see
Our times change
In this slow dance.

Bittersweet song
So slowly sung.
The World comes down
passion unravels,
So tightly wound.

A day passes
One to the next.
One age is done
The coming shows
Though not in angst.

Daybreak- sunset
life comes- life goes.
Revolving door
At heaven’s gate,
Act two of the show.

Silent shuffle
In a dark hall.
Chaos brings order
Sin will be gone
Outside the wall.

Hope springs again,
Darkness to light.
Justice restored
Peace obtained
All in one night.

Vain Imaginings

1 01 2009

There is more to see
Than just the world.
Deep into a void
Is the mind hurled
with reckless care
Only to be whirled
All about by a wind
So quickly unfurled.
All in a long quest
for wisdom- the pearl.

Fleeing all sanity
As if it were curse,
Logic falls behind
And fancy comes first.
Bright colors emerge
and what we fear worst
Is to lose our ground
While satisfying thirst
In an unending quest
For neverending mirth.

Damn these mirages
and all their shadows.
The earth is nothing
But cosmic playdough!
Shaped by mere thoughts
Like wind to a willow.
By a whiseper it came
In apocolypse it goes.
Folding like bad cards
Or a failed stage show.

“Vanity!” cries a preacher
In such a lonely pulpit.
Though needing to be cried
From the tallest parapet.
Wisdom yet reaches out
To touch Satan’s puppets
Singing songs of warning-
silver bells and trumpets.
The spirit of this age
Seems quite the strumpet…
